CapaCiTi Digital Career Accelerator is the skills development division of CiTi. CapaCiTi’ s vision is to enable inclusive growth of the digital economy by ensuring a supply pipeline of future-fit, skilled employees with relevant digital skills matched to industry demand.

We do this through innovative training and experiential learning programmes that focus on both technical and professional development.

CapaCiTi brings together expertise, technology and resources from industry, academia, government and impact funders in order to develop young South African talent with in-demand skills, giving them a foundation for successful and fulfilling careers.

Candidates receive blended training at our Tech Campuses via an online learning platform that promotes self-learning and group work as part of a holistic programme designed to develop digitally confident candidates. Industry mentors provide teams with a business challenge and ask them to investigate a solution and present back to their mentor weekly. These activities enhance team work, communication and create a culture of solution-driven design thinking.

CapaCiTi currently provides the following 3 digital pathways :

Broad Based Digital Skills

The broad-based digital skills pathway is designed to develop introductory digital skills and concept understanding to facilitate entrance into junior positions that require a broader knowledge base, without specialised skills. The programme introduces candidates to a number of areas in order to increase digital literacies, interests and confidence. The BBDS programme attempts to address the current tech skills gaps in the Global Business
 Services industry. Industry certification can include AWS Cloud Computing Fundamentals and is NQF Unit standards aligned.

Introduction to programming

CapaCiTi’ s programming offerings allow interns to develop intermediary skills in Java or Python programming. Candidates move from the basic understanding of programming logic to deeper skills related to the specific language of focus. The Java programming offering aims to develop candidate’s basic data analysis understanding and incorporates aspects of SQL whilst the Python stream focuses on back end web development competencies and integration of IOT. Industry certification can include Microsoft Python Certification, Oracle Java Certification and is NQF Unit standards aligned.

Systems Development

The systems development pathway offers a combination of modules geared towards addressing the software engineering skills gap by providing candidates with skills and certification in both front and backend web development. The full programme is comprised of 12 modules, aligned to SETA unit standards, focusing on four relevant programming skills. These modules can be selected and combined to make up 6-month programmes from HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python and Java modules. Industry certification can include Microsoft Python Certification, Oracle Java Certification and is NQF Unit standards aligned.

Customised programmes

CapaCiTi can develop customised skills programs which are demand driven for your digital skills requirements or specific skills gaps. Programmes can include specific modules aligned with your professional skills or competency frameworks, which allow you to nurture talent aligned with your work culture.

My Professional Self

Job Critical Skills

This is the CapaCiTi work readiness programme which takes candidates from unemployed to employable. It is delivered as a combination of learning hosted on our e-learning platform, interactive events and feedback delivered by our candidate managers. Candidates will become: Self-Aware; Confident Communicators; Goal focused; Workplace ready; Interview Fit

My Future Self

Career Critical Skills

This is the CapaCiTi Future World of Work programme that aims to set candidates up for successful careers in the Digital Economy. Skills are practiced through the application of learning against set industry problem statements. Candidates work as part of a team to analyse the problem statement, investigate solutions and present an answer back to their mentor on a weekly basis. Problem Solver; Curious; Always Learning
