Broad Based Digital Skills

The broad-based digital skills pathway is designed to develop introductory digital skills and concept understanding to facilitate entrance into junior positions that require a broader knowledge base, without specialised skills. The programme introduces candidates to a number of areas in order to increase digital literacies, interests and confidence. The BBDS programme attempts to address the current tech skills gaps in the Global Business
 Services industry. Industry certification can include AWS Cloud Computing Fundamentals and is NQF Unit standards aligned.
Pathway

Introduction to programming

CapaCiTi’ s programming offerings allow interns to develop intermediary skills in Java or Python programming. Candidates move from the basic understanding of programming logic to deeper skills related to the specific language of focus. The Java programming offering aims to develop candidate’s basic data analysis understanding and incorporates aspects of SQL whilst the Python stream focuses on back end web development competencies and integration of IOT. Industry certification can include Microsoft Python Certification, Oracle Java Certification and is NQF Unit standards aligned.

Systems Development

The systems development pathway offers a combination of modules geared towards addressing the software engineering skills gap by providing candidates with skills and certification in both front and backend web development. The full programme is comprised of 12 modules, aligned to SETA unit standards, focusing on four relevant programming skills. These modules can be selected and combined to make up 6-month programmes from HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python and Java modules. Industry certification can include Microsoft Python Certification, Oracle Java Certification and is NQF Unit standards aligned.

Do I qualify to apply?

CapaCiTi minimum entry requirements:

  • South African citizen
  • Between 18 – 35 years old
  • Unemployed
  • Must have matric/grade 12
  • Must live within the region where the programme will be based, as advertised.

How does the application process work?

Step 1: Register a profile on our platform

NB: Please ensure that once you have completed “STEP 1” you set up your email alerts, this will allow you to receive immediate notification of upcoming programmes or opportunities being offered by CapaCiTi. (this is optional, should you not create an alert you will still be able to proceed with your application)

Step 2: Apply (personal details, education details, work details and attachments). The above needs to be completed in order to proceed to the next step / or to proceed with the application.

Step 3: Complete application and complete the “logic assessment” as part of your application screening questions (which consists of 25 questions)

Step 4: Progressed (shortlisted) applicants are invited to attend interviews and information sessions.
Information session is used to give you an overview of the programme being offered by CapaCiTi.

Step 5: Vetting checks will be conducted (Credit Checks), the purpose of the credit check is to ensure that you are credit clear, as it is part of the selection criteria.

Can I only apply online?

Yes, you can only apply online, in order to proceed to the next steps of the recruitment process.

How do I know if my application was successful?

You will receive an email notification or a telephonic call which will be followed up by an email.

What is the Pay-it-forward model?

CapaCiTi Programmes work on a Pay It Forward model

You do not pay anything during your programme; instead, only once you receive a full-time job/employment, will you be required to pay back your training costs in affordable instalments, every month. Your contributions will be used to give another, young South African the chance to participate in a CapaCiTi Programme.

Is an internship guaranteed?

No, we cannot guarantee you an internship, we will however equip you with the necessary job critical skills to prepare you for the working world.

We will facilitate opportunities for you to meet with clients/hosting companies to potentially secure you an interview/s.

Am I guaranteed a full-time job?

No, we cannot guarantee you a full-time job, once you are in an internship, it is up to you to work hard, be committed, determined and prove yourself at your host employer, which will hopefully lead you to getting a full-time job.

Should your host employer not extend your contract or offer you a permanent opportunity, please ensure that you notify the CapaCiTi placement team, and share an updated CapaCiTi resume with them to ensure that they place you back in the pool of applicants looking for employment and share your resume with external employers.

NB: To ensure you have a good record with CapaCiTi placement team and to be considered for potential vacancies that may arise, it is vitally important that you make sure to share a copy of your Offer Letter or Employment Contract with us, whilst you are on an internship or fulltime employment.
