The Cape Innovation & Technology Initiative (CiTi) collects users’ personal data in the form of names and email addresses of users who provide such data for the purpose of signing-up for The CiTi’s online programmes or newsletter. CiTi does not collect any Special Categories of Personal data as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Providing the aforementioned data to CiTi operates as consent to the processing of such personal data, including the collection, organization, storage, and use of personal data. This consent is the legal basis for CiTi’s processing of personal data under the GDPR. Furthermore, CiTi has a legitimate interest in the processing of the personal data provided by users for the purpose of distributing the newsletter and digital engagement. CiTi has implemented appropriate measures to protect the security of all personal data collected.


CiTi collects the names and email addresses of those who choose to provide this information solely for the purpose of distributing the newsletter and contacting newsletter recipients regarding CiTi’s business and recruitment processes. CiTi neither sells personal data to third parties nor uses any automated decision-making in the processing of users’ personal data.

CiTi may share users’ personal data with MailChimp, ActiveCampaigns, LinkedIn or Google, for the purpose of distributing the newsletter and contacting newsletter recipients as well as provide offers for recruitment or participation in events. CiTi seeks to ensure that all personal data shared with third parties is properly secured and treated in accordance with the law.


All personal data collected by CiTi  is stored indefinitely for the purpose of distributing the newsletter, programmatic recruitment calls or other digital communication. Any users who wish to have their personal data removed from CiTi’s database may unsubscribe from the newsletter using a link provided at the bottom of each email containing the newsletter. Once unsubscribed, the user will cease receiving emails from CiTi and their personal data will be removed from CiTi’s database.


Under the GDPR, any user residing in the European Union has the right to withdraw consent to data processing, erasure of all personal data stored in CiTi’s database, and file a complaint with the proper local data protection authority.
