Khayelitsha Bandwidth Barn empowers the Informal Economy through SmartTech Training Programme

The Khayelitsha Bandwidth Barn hosts a variety of workshops to support the businesses operating in the Informal Economy.  One of the successful interventions supporting informal traders to adopt technology into their businesses is the SmartTech Programme.

Since 2016 CiTi and the Khayelitsha Bandwidth Barn empowered more than 400 informal traders with the basic tech skills to run their businesses.  Originally only focused on businesses within the Khayelitsha/Mitchells Plain area, the programme has now reached the Philippi community with the assistance of the Philippi Development Forum on the 16th and 17th of February.  The Khayelitsha Bandwidth Barn built relationships with local development and business forums and is reaching out to other townships that can benefit from this valuable programme.

A special thanks to the City of Cape Town and Mayoral Committee Member Alderman James Vos for funding the programmes that provide real impact in our communities.
