VIP Graduate Cub Programme in ICT
A heartfelt thank you to all who made it to the VIP Graduate Club launch held at Business Connexion in May. Evidence of adhering to the wise and encouraging words imparted to the students at the launch, by Phil Savides (BCX WC Executive), Doug Batchelor (Microsoft Coastal Manager) and Viola Manuel (CITI Exec Director) has been testament to the steady attendance at the 2 workshops hosted thus far.
We are proud, and pleased to say the 4 major ICT institutions in Cape Town, CPUT, College of Cape Town, UWC, UCT, and we have also been joined by an enterprise pilot from the Khanya project of WCED are well represented this year by the total 45 students who have been at the Saturday workshops. In an effort to help these students gather experiential training in their various disciplines within ICT, CITI hopes to place the participants in ICT corporate, as well as enterprises during their June/July vacation period.
In an effort to address workplace skills development for the current intake of this initiative, CITI invites ICT corporate and enterprises in and around Cape Town to “adopt” these students, and are still looking for interested companies to absorb the CISCO skills , IT Engineering, amongst others.
12 companies have shown a keen interest to take a maximum of 1 participant per organisation, and thus we still require an additional 20 students from this years programme to be placed. Should your organisation be keen, kindly forward the following information in order to match the right student to your company.
- Your company profile
- Skills requirements for the portfolio that you envisage the individual to fill during their stay with your company for a minimum of 14 days during the June/July holidays
- Number of VIP candidates able to accommodate in the above mentioned portfolios
- Company details: contact person, & details
- Will your organization be able to offer the incumbent a minimum stipend of R600 per week to help them with food and transport cost?
The students are available for interviews and CV’s are available to those interested companies who forward the above information to CITi.
All interested parties should forward their responses, and any other comments to the above questions to: thandeka@citi.org.za with the subject: 2008 VIP Graduate Internship - Interested Employer
