Calling on all start-up ICT Entrepreneurs!

The Cape IT Initiative (CITI) invites all start-up ICT businesses to join their business acceleration campaign.

VeloCITI Project background ...
VELOCITI is aimed at young IT entrepreneurs who are running a business where the true
potential is yet to be fully exploited. The business should have high growth potential and be able to become a Western Cape success story. VeloCITI is running for 3 years and has produced many success stories.

At the end of the project, all participants will be provided with a certificate of completion and a letter of endorsement from CITI which could form part of your business plan. The focus is for each entrepreneur to walk away with a completed business plan, financial administration tools, and a strong network.

The following is measured at the beginning and the end of the programme and 6 months later:
  • Turnover
  • Employment
  • Number and size of clients – indicates progress
  • Size of proposals generated – indicates progress

The VeloCITI Programme will require the following commitment from the Entrepreneur:
  • All participants will spend approximately 14 hours per month dedicated to the programme for 8 months
  • This includes: Attending a 2 hour monthly session with their mentor
  • Attending a weekly 3 hour group session at the Bandwith Barn
  • Attendance at 3 social get-togethers, with guest speakers

The VeloCITI course content covers the following:
  • Value Proposition, Market & Customer Segmentation
  • The Business Model
  • Practical Operations Strategy
  • Pricing, Marketing, Sales, Negotiation
  • Crossing the Chasm
  • People Management
  • External Relationships
  • Market Positioning, Cold Calling
  • Preparing a Business Plan

The optional finance course covers the following:
  • Basic Business Records
  • Analysis of Financial Statements
  • Budgets and Forecasts
  • Taking Stock
  • Management Reports
  • Taxation
  • Intro to Funding
  • The Financial Plan

Participant Profile

The selected companies must be:
  • Western Cape based
  • ICT focused or significantly ICT enabled
  • Operating for a minimum of 6 months
  • Registered in SA with SARS, and
  • must have high growth potential

Cost: This initiative is funded by Provincial Government of the Western Cape.
