Sharpening the saw
Our session today on ‘SHARPENING THE SAW’ was about making an investment into the most valuable ‘instrument’ entrepreneurs have: themselves! We looked at the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional aspects of renewing yourself and ‘sharpening your saw’. With all the hard work business owners are doing, it is hard to forget about the most important ‘asset’ in your business – the person who runs it and does it all. We identified the renewal of different dimensions of oneself as being activities that requires proactivity – as they do not feel immediately urgent, they do not act ‘on us’ like other activities in our daily business life do. They are so-called ‘quadrant 2’ activities: highly important yet not urgent.
Everyone looked at practical ways of bringing fresh energy to the different dimensions of their life, and shared their ideas with a partner who checked whether it was really possible to implement it on a weekly basis.
We spent the last 30min. dealing with challenges once again – participants shared their insights, ideas and experiences regarding interviewing and hiring people.

I thought this was a strange title initially, but Judith cleared up the meaning of "sharpening the saw". After the session I decided to pickup a book and do some reading for a change. The input we recieved from the interview questions at the end of the session was very useful.
