Velociti session 6 covered marketing, otherwise known as “Elephants in flowerbeds”. We had great fun analyzing each others company names, logo’s, slogans and business cards, and realised the importance of a consistent and simple message. The group turned the tables on David by critiquing the CVP branding and marketing message – thanks guys!
We covered marketing theory, different types of marketing, and marketing strategies. We reviewed BulkSMS as a case study, and investigated “low budget” marketing initiatives.
The assignment is to design a tag line and draw up a low budget marketing strategy – budget is R500 per month.

Nice Interactive Session
I like how David made this session very interactive. I think we could have gone on for another hour if there was time. The homework can also be a good base for getting our own marketing strategy into gear.

This session is the key to my business success. I enjoyed how we interacted and the many ideas in marketing our businesses successfully. As for the month of July my business is going to focus on marketing & sales extensively. This marketing session help us preparing for our next marketing goals.

The marketing session was very exciting, informative and was presented in an easy to understand method. What struck me the most was how David explained not only the importance of corporate branding but also how it should not be done. From company logo, website, business cards and other print material to signage, pay-off line, all these facets must reasonate and convey the same brand promise to customers. Branding influences perceptions, and I will be doing my business a favour, even more so my bank account, by making sure that I do my branding the right way.

This session was excellent in two aspects. 1. The interactive company branding analysis AND 2. and most importantly the low cost marketing tips that David gave us are very helpful. Having no formal background in marketing, I am sure this will help me in taking SpaceSoft to the next level. Thanks David.
better perspective
This session really gave me a better perspective into marketing and made me realise what an integral aspect of the business it is.


I found the marketing session quite powerful in that it stimulated ways of communication and strategies that weren't in my vision, and being an experienced marketing graduate I felt I was doing the company justice but yet again have got some incredible value from a session I thought was my forte'.
