Venture Capital & Funding Seminar 25 April
SPII (Support Programme for Industrial Innovation) is designed to promote technology development in industry in South Africa through the provision of financial assistance for the development of innovative products and/or processes
- The IDC & SPII will be invited to present their venture capital funding schemes aimed at ICT companies
- CITI will partner with CSSA, BITF, and the Chamber of Commerce to included their member companies that are in the ICT industry
Funding will focus on:
- Seed capital-R&D, proof of concept, product development, market research and business plan development
- Development should represent significant advance in technology
- Development and subsequent production must take place within South Africa
- IP to reside in South African registered company
- Available to all South African registered enterprises
- Government funded institutions (e.g. CSIR) do not directly qualify for support
- No simultaneous applications from the same company
- Information technology, mainly software development
- E-commerce
- Telecommunications (mobile, fixed-line, satellite, virtual networks)
- Electronics
- New ICT technologies
- Specialist engineering projects
- New technologies in Financial Services
- Mining technology
- Other technologies, e.g. chemistry, biotechnology
