Make a difference and become a CITi member
Thank you to our 2010 CITi members. We are very grateful for your support
As a result of your action of signing up as a member, we were able to:
- Create a new skills development programme (CapaCITi 1000) to address critical IT skills shortages and launch the first pilot education and internship programme with UCT to address the shortage of Business Analysts
- Provide a venue and computer and Internet facilities to support two 6 month full time pilot software programming training programmes with Oracle (Java) and IBM (RPG) and CPUT/CenCRA/CIO Forum.
- Bring the IS, CS and Informatics departments at all four Cape universities together with industry under the umbrella of our ICT Academic HODs Forum with CHEC
- Raise funding to support the programmes offered by our Bandwidth Barn IT incubator – the New Venture Creation Programme, Velociti Y, Velociti, My Business Group, Women in IT and the My Mentor programme
- Raise over R 5 million in funding from government and other sources, to support these projects and our other work
As a result of our extensive engagement with industry, government, academia and other stakeholders over the past year, we are now clear that we will know we have been successful when:
- The Western Cape has a highly adaptable pool of the right ICT skills, of the right quality, at the right time and the right price, so that ICT and ICT-enabled businesses can be competitive, grow profitably and increase employment
- Western Cape organisations and entrepreneurs are successfully generating, commercialising and growing high quality, innovative, niche ICT products and services for export to Africa and the world
- Leading global businesses are investing in the region in order to benefit from our pool of high quality, skilled IT talent and our innovative, creative ICT & ICT-Design entrepreneurs
We are committed to working with these stakeholders and you to create multi-stakeholder projects and programmes with industry, academia, government, vendors, and others to realise this vision.
As it is vital for us to get as close to 100% of all Western Cape IT companies and others committed to the same objectives as we are on our database, we have created a new FREE basic “Registered Member” type of CITi membership.
This registration comes with the following benefits:
- Opportunity to make a difference to the growth and development of the IT industry
- Invitations to attend CITi initiated events as well as other relevant events, workshops, seminars and conferences
- CITi Newsletters and industry information updates
- A listing on the CITi website (Terms & Conditions apply)
- In addition, whilst CITI membership does not guarantee eligibility to Bandwidth Barn programmes, you must be a member of CITI to participate in any of the following programmes: Any current or future Bandwidth Barn enterprise development training programmes, including My Mentor, VeloCITi and Accel Enterprise Development Programme
- This registration also comes with an obligation to participate in CITi’s bi-annual Economic Indicator survey
