Breadbin Interactive Profile

Breadbin Value Proposition

Breadbin Interactive specialize in delivering digital content in an easy, cost effective and innovative way. Their kiosks, being completely customized throughout hardware, software and branding, have the ability to allow users to choose and burn relevant digital content onto CDs, DVDs and USB flash drives using an easy touch screen interface. The Freedom Toaster, originally built for most popular Linux distributions, has evolved to the point where the technology behind it is used to burn almost anything digital – from electronic textbooks, music to software and beyond.

One of the world’s largest distance learning institutions, the University of South Africa (UNISA) uses UNISA Toasters to provide students with digital course ware at its countrywide registration offices.

The name "Freedom Toaster" was derived from the fact that open source software is free and Linux users refer to burning CDs as 'toasting' – hence the Freedom Toaster. www.freedomtoaster.co.za This initiative was developed, prototyped and, although now run independently, supported by the Shuttleworth Foundation.
